Cybersecurity

The tuition-free Cybersecurity pathway includes tracks in GRC (governance, risk, and compliance) and cloud security engineering. These tuition-free tracks prepare students for new careers with growth opportunities in the high-demand cybersecurity industry.

Seventy-five percent of instruction for these tracks is virtual, and the majority of virtual learning takes place in a virtual reality environment. Equipment is provided.

GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance)

Track Length: Five months, January through June
Average Starting Salary: $60,000 – $70,000*
*Dependent upon employer, employer location, previous work experience, etc.

The GRC track gives you the opportunity to learn about the function that governs the cybersecurity industry GRC (governance, risk, and compliance). GRC analysts protect critical information, systems, and organizations from digital attacks. You will learn the foundations of GRC (ISO 27001 and 27002, implementing an ISMS risk, and applying security controls), science and technology (cloud security, artificial intelligence, machine learning, AI and auditing algorithms), design (design thinking, data visualization, user experience), and professional communication skills.  

Graduates of this track will have the opportunity to receive the following certifications: Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK), and Certified in Cybersecurity (CC).

The GRC track will prepare you for positions such as:

–  GRC Analyst
–  Information Security Analyst
–  Security Analyst

Cloud Security Engineering

Track Length: Seven months, January through August
Average Starting Salary: $70,000 – $80,000*
*Dependent upon employer, employer location, previous work experience, etc.

The cloud security engineering track gives you the opportunity to learn about a specialized role in the field of cybersecurity, dealing with the security aspects of cloud computing. You will learn the foundations of GRC and cloud security, including executing and reporting on threat intelligence, vulnerability assessments, threat assessments, and threat modeling; recommending controls for cloud applications; and implementing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining security SaaS (software as a service), AWS environments, and GRC platforms.  

Cloud security engineers play a crucial role in protecting an organization’s data and systems in the cloud. They develop and implement methods to secure and monitor cloud environments, evaluate and respond to cyberthreats, automate and configure security controls, support incident handling and response, and perform cloud security audits.  

Graduates of this track will have the opportunity to receive the following certifications: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK), and Certified in Cybersecurity (CC).  

The cloud security engineering track will prepare you for positions such as:

–  Security Engineer
–  Junior DevOps Engineer
–  Security Operations Deployment Engineer
