Health Information

The Health Information pathway includes tracks in medical administration, medical billing, and medical coding. These tuition-free tracks will prepare you for a new career with growth opportunities in the high-demand field of healthcare service support.

Medical Administration

Track Length: Five months, September through January
Average Starting Hourly Pay: $15 – $18

The medical administration track gives you the opportunity to learn the medical terminology and professional skills required for administrative functions in both clinic front offices and hospital department settings. 

Medical administrative assistants serve patients by scheduling appointments, providing customer service, and entering data to maintain patient records. 

Graduates of the medical administration track will have skills for positions in various healthcare settings including clinic front offices and hospital department settings. 

This track prepares you to take the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) Exam.

The medical administration track will prepare you for positions such as:

Medical Billing

Track Length: Eight months, September through April
Average Starting Hourly Pay: $18 – $21

The medical billing track gives you the opportunity to learn billing for both office and hospital settings. In addition to extensive medical billing instruction, you will learn the medical terminology and professional skills required for administrative functions in both clinic front offices and hospital department settings (Medical Administration).

Medical billers play a vital role in the connection between healthcare providers, patients and insurance companies. They interpret medical records; determine codes for patient visits, diagnoses and medical procedures; and make sure the right person or company is billed or paid. Medical billers are fluent in the patient registration and scheduling processes. 

Graduates of the medical billing track will have skills for positions in various healthcare settings including inpatient and outpatient hospital departments, health insurance companies, physician offices and billing services.

This track prepares graduates to take the Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS) Exam.

The medical billing track will prepare you for positions such as:

Medical Coding

Track Length: Nine months, September through May
Average Starting Hourly Pay: $19 – $21

The medical coding track gives you the opportunity to learn coding for both office and hospital settings. In addition to extensive medical coding instruction, you will learn the medical terminology and professional skills required for administrative functions in both clinic front offices and hospital department settings (Medical Administration).

Medical coders provide healthcare service support for medical coding roles and other positions where knowledge of healthcare including medical terminology, anatomy, pathophysiology, and coding would be an asset. 

Graduates of the medical coding track will be prepared for positions in various healthcare settings including inpatient and outpatient hospital departments, health insurance companies, physician offices and billing services.

This track prepares graduates to take the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certification Exam.
